Shocking...
Just in case you thought I was talking out of my butt, these soldiers also thought "Over There" sucked. My favorite quotes:
"'Thank God that's over,' said a master sergeant as the credits rolled."
'"A flag to mark an i.e.d.? What is that -- like don't land here?"'
"The Camp Murray soldiers dismissed the military firefights as "bull---- " ("Where is the air support? Where is the armor support?"), the dialogue as contrived ("It sucked") and plot drivers as pure Hollywood."
What a disgrace... If only I could print the actual comments from my squad. A little too "R" rated for this blog. Thanks to Jason for the link.

What a crappy show. Thank god the real soldiers are like you and not the drug-addicted, psychopathic losers depicted on "Over There." I think we'd still be fighting Saddam's Republican Guard if the real soldiers acted as reckless and incompetent as on that show. How can Steven Bochco claim with a straight face that "Over There" isn't political?
I was reading your earlier posts. RE: What to do with your blog, you can always continue to comment on current military issues, from the perspective of one who's been there. Just look at Blackfive. He's done rather well for himself :)
True, I could certainly do that. Maybe change the title to "a veteran's diary" or a veteran's perspective" :)
I enjoy Blackfive's commentary - I actually started checking him out due to you, and now he is one of my top few I go to.
